PR runs on information that is not public yet. Funding rounds, launches, hires and results all reach us before they reach anyone else. This page explains how that material is handled.
Everything is confidential by default
We do not need a separate agreement before you tell us something. Anything you share in the course of an engagement, including the fact that we are talking at all, is treated as confidential until you make it public or tell us it can be shared. If your organisation needs its own non-disclosure agreement on file, we will sign it.
Who sees your material
- Medha Chatterjee, who leads every engagement.
- Named specialists brought in for a specific project, each under the same obligation.
- Journalists and editors, but only the material you have approved, and only under the embargo terms you have set.
Nobody else. We do not discuss one client's unannounced news with another client, and we do not use it as a conversation starter with press.
Embargoes
When news goes to a journalist ahead of time, it carries an explicit embargo date and time. We only pre-brief outlets we have reason to trust with one. If an embargo is broken by a publication, we will tell you immediately, tell you what we know, and help you respond. We cannot undo a publication's decision, but you will never hear about it from someone else first.
How material is stored
Our email and supporting systems are managed for us by a security firm rather than left on consumer defaults. In practice that means the following.
- Business email runs on managed infrastructure with enforced multi factor authentication.
- Sensitive documents are exchanged over encrypted file transfer rather than as loose attachments when you ask for it, and we will suggest it ourselves when material warrants it.
- Devices used for client work are encrypted at rest and access is limited to the people above.
- This website collects nothing, so there is no store of client data behind it to breach.
If something goes wrong
If client material is exposed or accessed without authorisation, we will tell you without delay, explain what happened and what was affected, and tell you what is being done about it. We would rather deliver awkward news early than tidy news late.
After the work ends
Confidentiality does not expire when an engagement does. Material is retained as described in the privacy policy and deleted on request where no legal retention period applies.
